LIBRARY
Lolo School library serves nearly 600 students in grades K-8. For all students, instruction and reinforcement is given for each of the Essential Concepts addressed throughout the school year.
Students in grades K-3 learn a variety of skills to help them become independent library citizens. Several of the skills included are proper book handling, selection and checkout procedures, and locating books that are both interesting and also “just right” or “best fit” books at appropriate reading levels. Many lessons are taught through literature, supporting classroom teachers with past or present learning concepts or skills.
Students in grades 4-6 learn skills to become independent readers who choose literature based on personal interests as well as how to use research effectively. Students in grades 7 and 8 can access the library before and after school, during lunch and during the RTI period at the end of the day. Students in this grade are reading literature that suits their personal interests and academic needs.
By the end of eighth grade students will meet the following essential skills:
Identify the task and determine the resources needed
Locate sources, use information, and present findings
Evaluate the product and learning process.
Use information safely, ethically and legally.
Pursue personal interest through literature and other creative expressions.

LOLO SCHOOL LIBRARY BECOMES THE MISSOULA COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY AT 4:00 PM
The Lolo School Community Library is a Missoula Public Library branch library. The library is located in the school library and is open to the public from the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m – Monday through Thursday. This library houses a collection of fiction, non-fiction, young adult fiction, audiobooks, music CDs and DVDs available to checkout to Missoula Public Library patrons. Lolo school items are also available for checkout.
Free services to the public include computers with internet, wifi, MPL library cards, item loans, downloadable ebooks, and audiobooks. Electronic databases include: Career, Auto Repair, Consumer Reports, Mango Languages, Medical, Teacher References, World Book, Legal Resources, Tax Forms and more.
Adult reading and discussion groups are ongoing and participants are always welcome. Our first session this fall will be the book The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. This book is the selection, this year, for the BIG READ. “The National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Midwest, created the BIG READ to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and bring the transformative power of literature into the lives of its citizens. “ More information about the BIG READ is available at neabigread.org and readmissoula.org.

May 30 - June 1 10am-4pm
June 5 - June 15 (Monday-Thursday) 10am -4pm
Thursday, June 15 is the last day in the old Lolo School Library. Moving and closed for the remainder of the summer. Please request hold pick ups at MPL-Main or another branch library. All item returns to MPL-Main or another branch library after June 15th.
Book Drop will be closed on June 15th.
We are excited to invite you to our new school library when school begins on Tuesday, September 5th.
Fall Hours will resume: Monday-Thursday 4:00 to 8:00 pm
